  • Ripped DVD and converted in MPEG streamclip but NOT playing in FCP

I don’t have much knowledge or experience of ripping DVD’s and importing the file into final cut. I just know how to edit!

I ripped just a 1 minute section of a DVD using Macx DVD ripper which was a MP4 output. Then I converted the MP4 to prores in Mpeg Streamclip. When I imported it into final cut it was just a white screen and the audio was just loud scratching noises. I’ve also tried converting it to H264 and DV but still to no avail. I’m on a deadline and need to get this done today, it’s taken up so much of my time already.

I’m probably just missing something very basic but as I said I really am clueless with this sort of thing, so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

You could just take the VTS_01_1.VOB file from the DVD VTS folder and drop that into MPEG streamclip. The export it as a prores 422 file. You can even mark the in and out first so get the exact portion you need. Of course make sure you’re not working with a copyrighted DVD.
