    I need to simulate a simple blade of grass being thrown in the air. It must go up quickly but stop quickly and then float down slowly to the ground. When I set a very low mass for my object, it flies off for ever. Is there a way to control how far it will fly up before it starts going down?

    in the Dynamics tag – Force/Aerodynamics add some Drag and make sure Two-Sided is checked or it will drag facing one way and not the other (unless your grass has thickness). If you are using Wind to move your grass you probably want to use some Lift as well.

    You could enable Custom Initial Velocity in the Dynamics Tag of the feather to give it an initial velocity in the Y direction while keeping gravity (Project Settings > Dynamics > Gravity) at the standard of 1000 cm, and then keyframe gravity to a low value at the apex of the feather’s upward trajectory to slow down its fall.

    Edit: As I’m writing Brian beats me to it again with what is probably a better solution.

    Thanks for you input. There are so many combinations of parameters to play with. One can get lost. What I’m trying to achieve here is to simulate something like what you see on this video. Hay is thrown in the air and reaches an auger that carries it towards an opening in the back. I have to find a way to create cut hay on the ground and lift it in the air. Initial velocity could the helpful indeed.
