anyway to get the system settings window to pop-up automatically when i start final cut pro so as to remind me to set my scratch disks ?

i know this may seem crazy
but i suffer from attention disorder and by god it’s the last thing on my mind when i’m swapping projects !!!

    thanks

No. Final Cut doesn’t work like this.

You could make a wallpaper on your editing system that reads “Set Your Scratch Disks”

that window will only popup if the old scratch disc location can’t be found, bit of lateral tinking then …
you could always keep your scratch disc on an external disk
you could write (or have written) an FCP launch applet that checks for conected drives and unmounts them before actually lauching FCP … forcing you to (manually remount those drives and) reset the Scratch disc in FCP

seems like a sledgehammer approach to me! better to learn knew working habits.

For each project that has different scratch discs, you could create a new user. Each user has a separate preferences file, so the scratch discs set for each would be different.

Turn on fast user switchin, then quit final cut under one user, log on as the other user, start final cut, and you should have the correct scratch disc for the project.
