revisiting – ioHD – MBP DVI +to HDMI – is it possible yet?
Posted by Justin Tan on December 17, 2007 at 10:13 pmor I guess the question is, will it ever be possible?
reading this thread:
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/150/857429I think not, but I figured it wouldn’t be hard to try again…
So I have a MBP which when connected via a DVI to HDMI cable, detects the ioHD and outputs 1920×1080 (50 or 60hz). However the ioHD doesn’t detect any HDMI input.
Suggestions? Alternatives?

December 17, 2007 at 10:34 pmYou are sending the DVI out and the HDMI in on the same computer?

thats because you are not sending a video signal out from the laptop you are sending what amounts to VGA over HDMI and while it can be viewed on monitors – since most HDMI capable displays can handle both a video and a computer signal – the IoHD only sees a true video signal
no this is not going to change, while the Kona card can access the Desktop output via the PCI bus since the IoHD is not connected there it cannot do that conversion.
sorry the answer is still the same.

January 8, 2008 at 8:59 pmI’m trying to do something similar. I want to capture the video coming out of my Barco EncoreES video processor from the DVI program out into my ioHD with an HDMI-DVI cable. If this will never work, what is the next best way to connect the two devices?

if you set the Encore system to output conventional HDSDI video as 720p or 1080, you should not have the same issue as the other poster, your device can generate a ‘True” HD signal where as the DVi – HDMI direct from a laptop is XVGA not SMPTE video spec.
The IoHD can only capture a standardized SMTPE Video source.

January 9, 2008 at 1:38 pmWe don’t have the HDSDI outputs from our video processors. Only DVI and RGB.
