  • Reversed video (via Motion) speed time remapping problem

    Hu guys,

    here is my problem:

    1. Reverse video clip in FCP 7
    2. Send to Motion 5
    3. Tweak some text elements
    4. Back to FCP, plays smoothly
    5. Speed time remap with frames, render
    6. Clip does not play smoothly on slow motion parts anymore

BUT: Same video clip, same workflow, no problems if clip is not reversed.

Add 1: Same problem if I Reverse the clip in Motion only, not in FCP; Same if I first export to Quick Time Movie, then send to Motion
Add 6: Same problem after exporting using Quick Time Conversion

    Any ideas/suggestions are welcome.

    Thx.

It’s not a field dominance issue, is it? FCP sometimes doesn’t do a very good job of sorting out field order on reverses. You can fix this with Effects>Video>Shift Fields.

Nope, no luck with that either.

If works though if I add an extra step of exporting video to QTM after it comes back from Motion, and importing it back to FCP.

I’d still believe this should work without this stupid workaround. But how?

Sorry for double posting. And posting too soon. 🙂

Looks like it works only on the unrendered timeline (green line above it). As soon as I render it, movements are again not smooth. Wtf?
