    Hi folks,

I’m trying to remove the 3:2 pulldown from an old newsreel thats available on the archive.org.

You can download the high quality mp4 from here:

    https://archive.org/details/0647_Babies_and_Breadwinners_1961_Polio_Vaccine_campaign_01_38_28_00

I’ve tried interpreting the footage as both upper and lower field dominant, and all phases but nothing seems to give me a clean interlace free 23.976 fps clip. I’ve stepped through the newsreel at 29.97, and it seems to have a normal telecine pattern of 3 whole frames followed by 2 interlaced frames. I’ve tried just viewing one field, and that removes the visible interlacing so I don’t think that the fields have been messed up due to scaling. Also, the guess field pulldown button doesn’t work with this clip.

I’ve successfully removed the telecine from other clips on the archive.org, but this one isn’t behaving.

    Any ideas?

    -Matt
