  • reveal in finder option greyed out for compound clips, render files disappear, library is from backup

I had a corrupted event or project so I needed to “restore from backup” to continue editing. Now fcpx opens a library with one of those long backup names. Everything seems to be there and working correctly as I continue to edit, although there is the yellow exclamation point sign on my event. But I notice two quirky things going on. One is that if I select a compound clip in the browser, the “reveal in finder” option is greyed out. The other is that sometimes when I render a clip in the timeline, the render later disappears and I have to re-render, even though I did nothing to the clip after the original render. I assume this has something to do with this being a backup and/or the yellow exclamation point warning. How can I get back to working from a regular library, or otherwise solve these problems? How can I find out what the warning means?

Not sure about the render issues, but compound clips don’t exist on the finder so it should be greyed out.

Thanks for the info re compound clips, I hadn’t really tried to find them before. Do you know how I can research what the exclamation point means? I’d hate to lose all the work I’ve done so far. When you are working from a backup, I assume that further backups are still being made so if the event gets corrupted again you can still “restore from backup”?

Here’s a link to a list of alert icons in FCPX if that helps.
