With the new Mac Book Pros no longer having Nvidia graphics, it seems that there is no ‘stock’ MC that Resolve will even run on. Since it needs a CUDA GPU even to launch. The currently available MacBook Pros, iMac, and MacPros all use ATI graphics, so Resolve doesn’t even launch on them.

A previous gen Mac Book Pro of which some may be available, is now the only Mac that can run Resolve out-of-the-box.

All others Macs need the addition of a Nvidia card before you can run Resolve on them.

I wish there was at least one iMac that could run Resolve. Not so much for grading, but as an affordable assist station to conform EDLs, import/export, maybe even do some prep before grading.

    Hi Neil,
You could run the YoYo application on your Mac to prep EDL’s and import/export functions as well as transcode and viewing material.

    Take a look at https://www.yoyotta.com

    Thanks

I just visited the site. Looks quite nifty. Will it be there at NAB? Do you have demo plans for India? You can mail me offline.

Steve MacMillan here, online editor. I just saw the YoYo website.

75% of the projects I prepare for DaVinci grading originate at FCP projects. Does YoYo read FCP XML and import all forms of QT video?

    What is the price?

    Hi Steve,
The system supports all forms of QT video but does not yet support FCP XML although it is a relatively painless process to implement and it is on the short term roadmap.

    Thanks
