    hi
having installed lite 8.1.1 at a clients studio as they like me to grade on their edit system (they just do) and i’m having all sorts of problems

the time thumbnails all have a very strong blue cast.

some clips grade fine but others when click on kills the programme in a weird way. The channels separate and the whole image posterizes then if you click on other clips you just get the same image posterizing in different ways.

I’ve tried 2 different projects now

1 was an xdcam timeline and xdcam hd422 .mov clips
    1 was 1080p25 ProRes422 timeline and clips

the xdcam was much worse but both have the fault.

    thanks

    mike

    system :
    osx 10.6.8
    quad 3ghz xeon
    decklink3
    4gb ram
    radeon 4870
    fibre storage

Note that the GPU you’re using isn’t supported. Check the Config Guide on BMDs website to see what is officially supported.

I’m not saying you won’t get help without supported hardware – but it’s harder to nail the problem when you most probably won’t have such problems using supported hardware.

    yeah – fair enough

I obviously have a full resolve system in my own suite but had ‘sold’ the client the idea of resolve lite as the way to grade the project at their studio. I thought lite was a more hardware agnostic but it seems not.
Am grading their 4 x 50min in Color which is a shame as i’m about 2/3 speed in Color vs Resolve
    thanks

I bet Lite is not intended to run as soft only version. You just do not have some features but you need
    some hardware still.

The Radeon 4870 is not a good enough openCL card for Resolve. If you updated it to a 5770, it would work OK.

Yeah, I’d pretty much come to that conclusion. I did get it working on a couple of clips that I needed to do tracks on. But it was painful to work in.

Probably wouldn’t recommend they buy a 5870 though, if they are buying a card to use lite surely a CUDA card would be preferable?

I only suggested the 5770 as something relatively cheap and similar to what they already had. If they can afford it, and it works with whatever else they use on the Mac, sure, a Quadro 4000 card would be better.
