Resolve Lite Avid roundtrip MXFs not relinking or appearing in media tool
Posted by Daniel Reitzenstein on November 18, 2011 at 9:46 pmi’m rendering out my colored shots to an mxf folder with the intention of replacing and relinking what i conformed so it snaps back in. using the avid AAF roundtrip settings and even exporting my same aaf from resolution and importing to avid doesn’t help. the sequence and clips look good…the avid rebuilds the database with the new colored MXFs…but i can’t get media tool to recognize clips are present and can’t get anything to relink…

November 19, 2011 at 12:38 amPut the newly created MXF files into their own new folder within MXF (name it 10 or something greater than what is already there). Then launch Media Composer and project. The import or drag into a bin the msmMMOB.mdb file. Clips should show up in bin.

November 19, 2011 at 4:10 amDid you enable the reel number support on the config page before rendering? The MXFs need to have a valid reel/tape name else it won’t show up in Media Composer’s Media Tool.

November 20, 2011 at 2:29 amMake sure the name used for the source is the same as what it used in Media Composer. Also, in Media Composer, were the assets brought in via AMA or captured from tape sources?

November 21, 2011 at 5:46 pmreel didn’t do anything, turns out the reels avid had assigned to them carried over on ingest and output…still not working. the clips were caputred via ama and were upressed from source to 1:1 10 bit for color.

November 21, 2011 at 7:14 pmBring up these two columns in the bin:
Source File
TapeAMA will put the source in the Source File while anything captured will be in Tape (unless a MetaCheater type method was used with mergeing into an ALE file).
If you start off AMA to start, then do the second pass and it comes in with sources as Tape, then you won’t be able to relink between Source File and Tape in anything pre-v6.
In v6 you can relink across Source File and Tape except for scenarios where a spanned file was used from RED and AMA. The it still won’t work.
