Resolve 9.1.4 No Audio and Very Fast Playback
Posted by Amos Kim on June 26, 2013 at 4:20 amHi all,
I’m new to Resolve. I seem to have two problems: can’t get audio output (I see meters but no audio heard) and playback of untouched video clips (DSLR h264, ProRes LT and even the longer tutorial clip included with Resolve) in the Color room plays unusually fast. Anybody encounter a similar issue? I’m running the 9.1.4 version on my Mac OS 10.8.2 Hackintosh with GTX 580 Classified. I’ve got installed Cuda Driver 5.0.37 and GPU Driver 304.00.05f02. I’m hoping this a simple fix and nothing really defective with my system. Any input is appreciated.thanks.

July 7, 2013 at 5:07 amHi Amos,
I am about to get my brand new Hackintosh now, with a 2GB NVidia 680 card.
I wonder, how is your experience with Hackintosh in combination with resolve? It works all fine? Any workflow problems? Can the CPU and GPU manage to power hungry app?Thanx for feedback.

July 7, 2013 at 5:20 amHey Sascha,
I’ve been able to get it to work relatively well. I experience some kinks in playback in the color page, but nothing critical.
I haven’t looked into the 680 card, so I can’t comment about it, but for the most part, my 580 seems up to the task so far.
If there was any advice I would give to a hackintosh newbie (which I consider myself being also), it would be to make sure you have all the Motherboard BIOS settings correct. A LOT of problems stem from incorrect BIOS settings. Do your research on TonyMacx86, which is an amazing resource.

July 7, 2013 at 5:26 amWhat exactly you mean by “some kinks in playback in the color page”?
Thanx.

They all work fine or you encountered other apps, that have a problem on the HacMac?Thanx a lot.

July 7, 2013 at 5:37 amEvery once in a while, I experience the frame rate ramping up and down and creating jerky playback. When I experience that, I just pause and playback again, and it plays normal.
I haven’t been able to find the cause so far and it seems like I’m the only one who has reported anything similar online. Many have told me it’s probably not any hardware or Davinci software malfunction but just due to the mere fact that I’m using non standard Mac hardware. There’s probably a hack or patch to fix this but at this point, I’ve decided to live with it, until a solution presents itself.

July 7, 2013 at 5:39 amOther than CS6 Premiere Pro not detecting my CUDA GPU once in a while, it has run relatively smoothly. When I encounter this, I just quit and restart, which usually gets Premiere to find my CUDA device.

July 7, 2013 at 5:49 amHow often does that happen?
Basically, you can use PS, AE and PPro without any problems?
What about FCP 7 & X? You are using it? It works ok?Thanx again.
