  • Resolve 8 & 9 Render Naming Differences?

Posted by Chris Armstrong on February 12, 2013 at 3:24 am

I had a Resolve 8 project that I needed to make updates to. I did those in Resolve 9… but when I rendered it out I noticed that the file naming convention is now different.

Previously Resolve 8 rendered the files as: CLIPNAME_TRACK_CLIPNUMBER, but now Resolve 9 is rendering them as TRACK_CLIPNUMBER_CLIPNAME.

    (I.e. R8 was: “C001_V1-0001.mov”, now in R9 it’s “V1-0001_C001.mov”)

This keeps the clips from relinking in FCP7.

How do I get Resolve 9 to render my clips in the old naming convention?

    Hi Chris,

The naming convention was changed in V9 Currently it is not possible to switch this back to the V8 convention.

If you saved your project after exporting an XML in V8, you only need to re-render your updated shots and export an updated XML out of the Conform page.

Otherwise, you might have to re-render your entire timeline and export a new XML and send that back to FCP.

    Thanks,
    Anish

    BMD,
Please change this back or have an option that allows us to have it either way. I provide footage to Avid editors who liked the old naming convention.

    Thanks!
