  • Resizing a comp from 1080hd to ntsc dv including it’s contents

I have an AE comp that was created for 1080HD. I have DV video that I want to place in the comp but scaling the video causes pixilation problems. I’d like to resize the HD comp down to NTSC DV resolution along with everything that’s in the comp. I’m sure it can be done and I hope you can help. Thanks…

Hi David. I don´t know much about the elements you´re using on your comp but you can add a null object to the comp and parent all the layers to it. Then you can scale the null and everything shall be fine.

Or you can drag your 1080 comp into a new NTSC DV comp and scale it down to fit but then you won´t be able to add anything to it properly.

Those are the ways that came to my mind. Maybe some of the masters around here will come up with some nicer way.

Anyway I hope it was of some help. All the best.

There’s a Javascript that comes installed with AE, ScaleComp. The script is in the Scripts subfolder. That should sort things out for you.

The Null procedure works but it doesn’t handle camera settings.
