Here’s the jist, I have a DV project from the good ole days of FCP4.0, I have the project file, tapes, and associated media. I go to open up the project in FCP5… all the media start times are 00:00:00:00 I thought it might just be the file I went to open, I go to my achive back ups, pull the file off a CD that I burnt at the end of the project, and… SAME DEAL.

I wonder if loading FCP4.5 on a seperate system and trying to reserect the project that way, i’ll have to try tomorrow and see where it goes.

Any one else ever run into this funkiness?

    Ideas? Prayers? Sacrificial lambs?

Sounds like you captured by using CAPTURE NOW and UNCONTROLLED DEVICE. That setting captures without timecode and thus causes each clip to have a TC start of 0;00;00;00.

That’s possible, improbable but possible, I’ve reserected projects from the same era with no issues, just did one resently that was half beta and half DV, loaded and captred fine. I don’t know if i wasn’t thinking, or maybe someone else had captured the media, I hope that it’s some funky 4.5 to 5 bug, and that installing 4.5 lets me open the file and gives me time code that works, if not i just love rebuilding projects from scratch…
