Resampling 32K audio to 48K in FCP Studio 2
I am trying to resample the 32K audio from a DVCAM source into 48K for use in a FCP sequence that is set for 48K. The audio is part of the video clip I need to capture and is therefore essential. I don’t see anything in the audio/video settings for 32K capture and I don’t see anything either on the interface or in the manual that clearly shows me how to resample the 32K audio on the video clip into 48k once it’s captured. I have many years experience editing on Avid where resampling audio was a relatively easy thing to do, but I am a “newbie” to FCP and am having trouble with this. Any guidance would be appreciated. Here’s how to do do the initial 32k capture. The answer was originally for capturing 4 channels of 32k audio from an XL-H1 but the setup process will be the same for you.

If you drag your 32k audio into a 48k timeline FCP will play it back just fine as long as you have the audio playback preferences set to lower quality. You can change this setting by going to the Final Cut Pro menu and clicking on “User Preferences”. Set the audio playback quality to “Lower (faster)”.
When it’s time to render your project prior to export FCP will automatically upconvert the audio to 48k. Hit “Cmd -R” to render all. FCP will render the audio after it’s done the video.
