    Greetings,
I have a 16×9 project. I want to replicate what it will look like if I do a 4×3 center extraction without pan and scan. I tried placing my project in a 4×3 timeline, but it is still letterboxed. Is there a way to do this? I was also thinking of creating a matte that would accomplish this goal but am not sure how to do it. I realize I may have to re-render the entire movie if this is the solution…. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

motion tab – scale until you lose the letterbox.. i think 133% should do

What capture card are you using?

If you have an AJA Kona series card, you can send your 16:9 timeline to tape and use the Kona control panel to select a 4:3 center punch to write to tape. This will give you the best results.

If this is going to DVD and you don’t have a Kona card, you can always blow it up to 133% in the Motion tab. BUT this is going to degrade your timeline just like taking a JPEG picture and blowing it up to 133%. But it may be acceptable for DVD if that’s your final output.

    Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the information. Im just watching it for my own reference, so the motion tab solution works great.
    Thanks!
