Posted by Lowell Johnson on March 2, 2013 at 8:23 pmHow do i relink a ProRes 422 HQ sequence with an R3D sequence (essentially how do I substitute each ProRes clip in the sequence with an RD3.
Thanks

March 3, 2013 at 2:24 am1) Simplify your project to be EDL safe (one major lane of video)
2) Export an EDL
3) Open Redcine X and go to file>import
4) Select your R3D folders and hit import
5) Select your EDL
6) Redcine X will now create a conformed sequence. Go to File > Export and export as Final Cut 7
7) Import and relink into Premiere, QC against your intermediate timeline.

March 3, 2013 at 12:56 pmI’ve tried doing this solution. the xml imports back into premiere fine, only there is no chronological consistency. basically the sequence is in a completely different order (seemingly random order)
thanks for your advice on the redcine x workflow though, this is at least one thing i’ve now learnt how to do!

March 3, 2013 at 8:51 pmAre the cuts matching in terms of length but using the wrong portions of video, like a slip edit happened? You may have the wrong timecode interpretation settings between exporting an EDL to re-interpreting it within Redcine-X. At worst, your intermediates may not match your original footage in terms of timecode. If the latter is the issue, it’s basically a manual relink and reedit – not pretty.
