Replace footage workflow – is this possible?

I had used Premiere Pro to import the clip and created numerous ‘selects’ based on that clip.
I ran into a situation where I needed to use After Effects to process that clip, but rather than taking the time to send each ‘select’ clip to AE from PPro, I thought that if I treated the entire original source clip in AE, then saved that out to a new file, then did ‘replace footage’ on the original clip with the AE-processed clip, all my selects clips and edits would point to the newly processed source file.
Maybe if I hadn’t created a new clip from the source and they were all referring to the original this would work, or created subclips, but that’s not how I did it.
However, I tried this and it didn’t work. The selects clips all refer to the original unprocessed clip. Is there some way for me to do what I want to do, or am I now relegated to sending every clip over to AE, perform the same tedious processing on each clip? There has to be a way…

Hi Keith,
I did run into your issue, replacing a master clip doesn’t get passed on to subclips (I think that’s what you mean).
Why not just send your timeline over to After Effects via dynamic link.
Andrew Kramer made a wonderful little script that make the process of getting clips back a lot easier.
