Repeater with variance?
I’d like to animate a stack of coins 12 high using the repeater tool. I can obviously make a perfectly straight stack using this method, but is it possible to add a little variety (on the x axis) with the repeater tool?
Basically I want a more wobbly (and realistic) stack, like this:

–X–
–X–
—X–
–X–Is a better way to do this?

Not really, but I have a really cool trick that has saved me loads of time on this kind of thing. It requires one or two script installations though. You can use the shape repeater baker to use the repeater and then separate each shape into its own shape in the layer. Now you can individually affect each shape:

You could stop there, but I also love to use the explode shape layer script in combination with this. After I bake the repeater, I explode the shape layer to put each shape on a separate layer. It’s a super quick way to get a perfectly repeated shape layer all on separate layers:
