Timeline made up of Red Epic-W, Epic Dragon and Scarlet footage at a mixture of 4K, 5K, 6K and 8K resolution final output from the r3d files. Some clips are 75fps but with speed changes and optical flow. Lumetri LUT loader has a basic LUT on some of the clips.

Comp resolution is 4K in width but 1200 high for a Widescreen projection.

Audio is 5.1 with a .wav imported via Audition.

Exporting to a custom resolution for upload to vimeo. h264 dual pass, 15mbps target 20 max.

Crashes after around 70% progress – not just Adobe Media Encoder and Premiere, but the whole Mac, requiring a restart.

Footage stored on GTech Studio XL, exporting to desktop – plenty of space there for the file <800MB…. Mac pro 2013, 6 core, 32 GB RAM, D700s.

    Any thoughts?

Is there a difference with the media around that point? A different filter? If an export keeps failing at roughly the same point I would look closely at the words footage.

Got the timeline to export to prores 4444 – seems like it was crashing as it hits the epic-w 8k footage. Prores to h264 has worked ok so presume it’s the step from r3d to h264 with 8k epic-w footage causing problems…

    Anyone else seen this?
