  • Repair XHA1 or Buy Another Cam?

    Hi,

This is the situation. I have an XHA1 which is about 5 or so years old. Something happened and suddenly it won’t work at all any longer. I’ve taken it to an authorised dealer and they say it will cost me 580 eur (about 800 usd) to repair it.

Now, since I use it for short films, YouTube videos and so on, do you think I’d be better off getting rid of it all together (perhaps part-exchange) and getting myself a Canon Rebel or something?

It just seems a hell of a lot to repair when for a similar price I can get something quite good.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers, Sean.

    Ciao Sean,
I suggest to repair it, the camera has still a market, and its value (once repaired) exceedes a lot the repair price.

    Grazie Paolo,

That’s what I’ve done – I got it repaired (in Rome actually by the Canon people) and it’s all good now!

I still have mine and wont sell it. If I did I wouldn’t be able to play back or recapture from tape.
