I’ve tried repairing permissions and I get a message; “Disk Utility has lost it’s connection with the disk management tool and connot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility.” I’ve tried it many times.
Did I screw up really bad? What can I do?

Are you using the most recent iTunes? That article is from a few weeks back when iTunes was causing this problem. It’s a workaround, yes, but since the new version of iTunes came out I haven’t had any problems. Try and update to the newest version and see if that solves it.

If it doesn’t, then go back to that article.
