You haven’t gone wrong… there’s just another step to do first.

You can either do the whole DVD creation in Movie Studio (Tools > Burn Disc > DVD) or create the MPEG and AC3 files in Movie Studio then use DVD Architect to create the DVD folder structure and required files.

Provided you used the correct templates to render your video and audio (MainConcept MPEG2 and one of the DVD Architect templates, then Dolby AC3), you can use these files in a DVD Architect project. Once they are part of a DVD Architect project (easiest way is to start a new single movie type project, and select the MPEG2 video file when prompted for media), you can prepare the disc files for burning (File > Make DVD, then click Prepare…). Then you’ll get a folder with the usual TS files ready to burn. DVD Architect can do the burning itself too.

I noticed that I did not use the “burn to dvd” button but rather just rendered.

If I had used the burn dvd button would I have gotten TS files as a result, to then burn?

No, it would have prompted you for a disc in your DVD burner and burned straight to disc.

I rendered again using the make dvd button. It rendered both mpa and ac3 files but no TS files of any kind.

Will these .mpa and .ac3 file extensions burn with imageburn.

Why am I not getting TS files?

Vegas will not make a .TS file. DVD’s don’t use TS files. Imageburn probably wants an ISO file.

What are you trying to do?

The “Burn Disc” menu option in Movie Studio will directly burn a disc of your current project. You don’t get any option to save an image file or the DVD folder structure for later burning – Vegas does the whole lot in one step. I guess if you have a virtual DVD burner you can effectively save an ISO image of the DVD instead of burning a real disc.

You need DVD Architect (companion program to Vegas, and bundled with Movie Studio HD Platinum) in order to generate a DVD folder/file structure (the VOB, IFO etc files, aka your TS files). Then you can use any DVD burning software to burn these to a disc or create an ISO image.

The Make DVD wizard is supposed to launch DVD Architect once Vegas has rendered the video and audio files. Do you get a “send to DVD Architect” option in the wizard dialog after rendering?

Oh… he meant VIDEO_TS and not .TS transport streams! Thanks for clearing that up. I couldn’t imagine what he was trying to do with .TS files. lol.

I have a piece ready to render using movie studio platinum 9.
It is standard def and I want to render it so that I can use imgburn to make a dvd.

Does it have to be a blu ray render to get an iso file, suddenly I am lost. Would appreciate your help.

Yes I get the send to Architect option. With it is a “or finished” option which I used.

So the thing is I have to send what and how ever I render to the Architect to get vob files, correct?

What about blu ray, seems like the last one of those I did went to a promt for disc and burned without Architect?

You need a DVD Authoring program like DVD Architect Studio to create the DVD layout. I know the Pro version will let you create an ISO file but I don’t know if the Studio version will. Of course, DVD Architect will burn the DVD for you so there is no need for imgburn at all.

No, Blu-ray is for HD not SD and will not play on a DVD player.
