Hello Creative Cow community. I created and renderd a project in Movie Studio Platinum 11 (Sony AVC – Internet 1920×1080) with good results. Than I made a project out of the same raw-material (AVCHD) in Vegas Pro 13 and renderd it with the same settings. The result was far worse (fast movements were not smooth at all). Why that and how can I get nice quality as in Movie Studio Platinum 11? Thanks a lot for your help.

Make sure that your project settings in Vegas Pro and Movie Studio are the same. In fact, if you want to do a fair comparison, open the Movie Studio project in Vegas Pro and render the same project. You should get the same results if the render template is exactly the same.

Thank you very much for your quick and kind response. I renderd the project again in Movie Studio Platinum 11 (1), imported the project in Vegas Pro 13 (2) and created it anew in Vegas Pro 13 (3) using the same source medias. Always with exactly the same project and render settings. Result: The quality of Movie Studio Platinum 11 (1) is the best, the movies of Vegas Pro 13 (2 and 3) are not as smooth in rapid movements.
Is there a difference in the render engine of Movie Studio and Vegas Pro?
Will I have smooth videos using a camera which records at 50p instead of 25i?

[marcel gächter] “Is there a difference in the render engine of Movie Studio and Vegas Pro?”

Not for the same version but possibly yes for different versions. So Movie Studio 11 and Vegas Pro 11 are probably the same rendering engine, but Movie Studio 11 and Vegas Pro 13 might not. I noticed that Vegas Pro 13 performance is slower than Vegas Pro 12 for me so I never bothered to use Vegas Pro 13 for any serious work.

Yes, the more frames per second the smoother the motion.
