rendering problem
Posted by Mark Walsh on October 31, 2011 at 2:25 amI’m using sony movie studio platinum 11.I make music video’s in u-tube.Whenever I make a video upon completion, when I render it to wmv.using pic in pic the windows are in a different position than where they show to be in the preview screen.I have to cancel render, move the window, then re-render and if it’s still not right do it until it’s done.Is there some setting that makes it the same?

It sounds like you project aspect is different than your render aspect and this is what could be causing this problem. You should make your project properties match your render properties and this will stop happening.

You set your project up using the Project Properties (Alt+Enter).
You can set the Width and Height but more importantly the Pixel Aspect Ratio. Then when you render, the render template has the same parameters. You can view them by pressing the Customize button.
I’m guessing that your WMV template is using a pixel aspect ratio of 1.0 and if you didn’t set up your project correctly, you are probably using the default NTSC DV template which has a pixel aspect ratio of 0.9091. If so, that’s your problem right there. Make the width and height and pixel aspect of your project match the width and height and pixel aspect of you final render and there will be no surprises.

November 9, 2011 at 3:01 amThe pic in pic windows are still not lining up.Got wmv set to 1.000 and the preview set to 1.000 but still aren’t right. When they’re set up properly in the preview window they’re in a different position once rendered.I had to render 9 times to line them up after rendering. It takes aprox.40 min each time, been doing this for 2 days now

Are the dimensions the same between your project and render template? (i.e., width and height?)

November 11, 2011 at 1:09 amIt says project:720x480x29.970
preview:360x240x29.970
but I can’t find where it tells you your render template. -

So you modified the default project to make the Pixel Aspect Ratio 1.0? because 720×480 usually has a PAR of 0.9091 or 1.2121.
[mark walsh] “but I can’t find where it tells you your render template.”
It’s in the template that you select when you render as WMV.
