I’m trying to export some footage from fcp with an alpha channel. I was wondering how to do this.

I exported with compressor as a tga seq and that worked but QT and fCheck both wouldn’t let me save it out, they both said that I don’t have permission. I don’t get that.

So now I wondering what method works for exporting out to get an alpha channel?

    Thanks
    Jason

If you are on FCP 7, you have two options: ProRes 4:4:4:4 or Quicktime Animation with \”millions +\” selected (the plus is for alpha).

you need to check the permissions on the disk or folder you’re trying to save the QT in. That needs to be set to allow you to write to the directory. You do this in the Finder using “Show Info”. Consult the Finder help menu if you need more help.

You can’t output ProRes 4:4:4:4 in FCP 6, but you can still output Quicktime Animation with millions of colors +. That is your only choice for a codec that supports alpha channels in a Quicktime .mov file.
