How can you, or can you render out a movie in Motion, on an alpha channel?
I do this all the time in LiveType, and would like to render some particle effects in Motion, and bring them into AE, and place them over some video.
Every time I render something in motion, it is on a black background.

    Heya,

When exporting a Quicktime, are you using a codec that supports alpha? DV, for example, does not. You will need to use a codec like Animation.

In the Export dialog, there is a popup labeled “Export Preset”. Usually it is set to “DV NTSC Movie”, but you can change it to “Lossless+Alpha Movie” to get a QuickTime movie with an alpha channel.

Possibly place a white or black backdrop and then use multiply or screen to take oujt that colour.
