  • Rendering in MP4=1/2 Audio loss

Posted by Brett Reilly on January 20, 2011 at 1:40 am

I’ve been using Vegas Pro 10 for about 2 months now and have been rendering in WMV. I recently got AAE, which doesn’t accept WMV. So I switched to MP4 because it supposedly has the same quality, is quicker to render, has smaller files, and is accepted by both programs. I did some basic research and made a new MP4 template. It works beautifully except that when I finish rendering, exactly 1/2 of the audio is gone. QuickTime Player, Vegas, and AE all show the new clip as having normal sound for the 1st 1/2 and then nothing at all for the 2nd. I have no idea why and have tried multiple clips and varied audio settings with no success.I will list my audio render settings below. All corresponding Project Property Settings are the same (ie; 48,000 Hz Sample Rate) and rendering is set to Best. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Render Settings
    Audio Format: AAC
    Sample Rate (Hz): 48,000
    Bit Rate (Bps):128,000
    Audio Coding Mode: Stereo

Which version of Vegas Pro are you using? From what I understand, you should be using 10c because there was a bug in the Sony AVC plugin at least in 10b which caused issues when rendering mp4 files.

    Hope this helps.
