  • Rendering H.264, want mov extention not mp4

Posted by Laurie Turner on January 10, 2008 at 9:28 pm

I am trying to render a movie out of the render queue as H.264. This automatically gives me the extension of mp4. I try setting the multiplexer to none but get an audio and video file separate. and 3GPP isn’t what I want either. How do I get the .mov extention?
I am using the H.264 selection from the base on “loseless” not output mode
    Please help deadlines today

are you using the latest AE? In 6.5, I get .mov when choosing the H.264 and in CS3 I get .mov?

What would you recommend at the best possible setting?
    I am using CS3.
We solved the problem for the deadline today, we are rendering it as a flash movie and it’s serving our purpose. It’s just weird that AE can be so tempermental about H.264

Thank you so much for your quick replies.

also, if you do have a quicktime h.264 with a .mp4 extension, just open it in quicktime and then select Save As … it will save with a .mov extension…

Thanks for the suggestions. I will use Animation from now on and compress somewhere else.
I appreciate everyone coming to my rescue

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for your help.
Which program you recommend to export a Quicktime (.mov) movie with a H264 codec?
    Thanks,
