Hey. I’m getting a VIDEO PREVIEW ERROR that reads “Error Compiling
Movie. Unknown Error.” Happens when I try to render my timeline. Doesn’t
leave me with a lot of info to work from. I moved the media to a
different drive — an internal SSD. Then to a Thunderbolt 3 media drive
with gobs of space. Same problem. Anyone know what this might mean or
ideas on troubleshooting it? Thank you!

I have had that happen to me. I would disable elements or tracks to find the culprit.

Sometimes it is a really large pic i am using in the timeline.

Thanks for the tip! I’m surprised that Adobe can’t handle really large images. I’ll look for something that may be tripping it up. Happy holidays!

Another thing you can try if you really need to render it out. I’ve been getting similar errors tied to my graphics card on occasional renders when using the GPU. I’ve found changing the project settings – Video Rendering and Playback – to Software Only will complete a render. Not sure if that is the same issue you are having, but give it a shot. Your render will be considerably longer though. :/ Finding new graphics cards right now is not an easy task…. extreme shortage on the market.
