Rendering doubt!
Hi Folks, Iam new in video editing so pardon my basic question. I have a 1:40 sec clip which i got from my Canon HD camera. The file imported into vegas is in MTS format which is around 120mb in size. I edited it a little and got it down to 1:20 sec. When i try to render it in HD format HD-720 or HD-1080 i get output file as 10GB!!! 1:20sec video 10gb is way too much. Besides to be honest i would like the video to in the same size as original MTS format. The reason is simple. I have to edit 10 more such small videos and join all 10 together. That final video can be full HD. In other words, this is just trimmed video clip which i will import again into vegas when joining rest of my clips. Does any one have suggestion to this issue? What should i do? Iam using Sony Vegas Pro 10.

Hi – your settings is way to high! Is this for youtube or vimeo? You have output settings in vegas just look at it carefull and decrease it.

It sounds like your rendering as uncompressed avi which is big.
What codec/format are you rendering to?

Hi Rob, all iam doing is pressing render as… and selecting
HD 720-50p, using Sony YUV codec. OpenDML compatible.
Audio: 48,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, PCM
Video: 50 fps, 1280×720 Progressive, YUV
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000Am i wrong?

hi steve, iam not able to find a way to set 5000kbits/per sec. Right now its encoding at enormous 441936kbps. Iam using the sony YUV codec. the site you mentioned recommends H.264. Where do i download H.264 codec for sony vegas? I was able to set frame rate 30 fps. Iam leaving the audio codec as uncompressed. For AAC support in sony vegas can i install this https://www.codecpackguide.com/klmcodec.htm ?

oh btw,my final project is to burn it in dvd or some hard disk. I wanted 1080 HD video as final if possible. I just hope its not bigger than 12gb? my video run time will be 1hr

Varun, you’ve told us what’s in the Template box but not what you’ve chosen in the Save as type box (directly above Template) and this is what we need to know.

Hi Mike, its Video for Windows (*.avi). I thought this was just a container. I guess iam wrong?

Varun, the YUV format you used is essentially uncompressed which is why your file size is so large.
You said that you have to edit more clips.
My suggestion is to wait until you get all your material together, do all the editing and then render the project to your desired format. -
Add the media from your camera to Vegas time line. Right click on your media and check media properties.
Set your project properties settings as closed as possible to your media.
You shoudn’t use avi uncompressed for rendering.
You render in a compressed format with the settings as closed as possible to your media.
For example, try selecting MPG2 and HDV 1080-60i or AVI and HD 1080-60i

Only if you REALLY want to screw up your system.
Encoded file size directly proportional to the bitrate that you encode at.
