  • Rendering changes the color of the original pictures

I am creating a video out of photos, rendering it as HDV with the YUV codec. However, I notice that certain pictures do not have the colors reproduced particularly faithfully from the original. I mostly notice it in darker colors…Vegas renders them even darker. Some pictures reproduce well and others not well at all. Some pictures start out bright and end up dingy-looking.

Why is this? Surely I don’t have to do individual color correction for every photo just to get them looking like the original.

Just a long-shot… In your project settings: have you selected 32-bit pixels? If you have, change it back to 8 and let us know if it fixes things.

Brian, is your monitor colour graded (calibrated) correctly?

I can’t say my photos look dingy, but I do tend to touch up my photos to get the look close to what I want in photoshop, then in Vegas I usually add a bit of ‘boost mid-tones’ in saturation adjust, a tiny bit of contrast and a touch of colour curves to get that ‘pop’.
