Rendering and widescreen
Thanks to John for helping me with Pro 9.0 HD render settings recently. However I continue to have problems removing a letterbox effect and appologies if this issue has been addressed previously. No matter what settings I try my final DVD product has letterbox effect when played on my widescreen HD TV.
The thing is, I don’t know if I have my Vegas settings are wrong or is letterbox a fact HD life?
Camera is Canon HV30 set to standard HDV. I’m using PAL format and projects are mainly holiday/family movies.
Project properties are:
HDV 1080-50i (1440 x 1080, 25fps)
8-bit pixel format
Best rendering qualityRender settings are:
MPEG2
AC-3 Pro
DVDA Widescreen Video Stream
(Note, the ‘Stretch video to fill output (do not letterbox)’ box is unchecked because when it is checked the final product image is ridiculously stretched. Also, ‘Match Output Aspect’ in Event Pan/Crop is not an option as image on timeline properly fills preview screen – no black bars)DVDA settings: PAL Widescreen (720 x 576)
I have tried a combination of all these settings but final product is always letterboxed. Is it possible there is an issue with burning HD projects onto standard DVDs (not Blu-ray)?
It would be greatly appreciated if someone can point out the error of my ways.
Bob
