Rendering and converting to flash .flv
Hi. I’m aware that Vegas does not have a flash rendering setting. But I need to convert an HD video I shot and edited in Vegas into a .flv video for use on a website. Obviously I want to keep it as high quality as possible. I did a couple of test runs by rendering a high quality .wmv file and then converting it to .flv, but when I played it on an adobe flash player it was very jumpy. Anybody know what the best way to go about this would be? Thanks in advance!

Render uncompressed or use the Quicktime Animation codec. If you have it, the Cineform codec is also a good choice for rendering out HD to process with other applications. If you do this a lot, it may be worth it to purchase Cineform Neo Scene ($99USD). IMHO, this is a required tool for anyone transferring HD between multiple applications.
WMV is probably the worse format you could have selected since it is highly compressed to begin with so it doesn’t give you good source to re-encode to FLV. 😉

Thanks for the response. I’m pretty raw, so how exactly do I render uncompressed and by Quicktime Animation, do you mean render as .mov? Thanks

Yes, you would render to a Quicktime 7 MOV file and press the Custom… button and on the Video tab change the Video Format to Animation. Then optionally save the preset for future use by giving it a new template name and clicking the save (diskette) icon.

I really just majored on this subject. And I get a HD Converter which can convert your HD shot video to general video FLV, RM, RMVB, WMV, ASF, MKV, AVI, etc. with high quality.

Has anyone tried this program? I’m currently shooting HD MTS files (about 3 minutes in length. I’m rendering these files to MP4 (1280×720 / 2MPS)and emaiing the files to clients.
I now want to post these files to a webpage and was looking for an HD Flash format. I’m wondering what program would be best to use to convert to flash.
On a side note, from a workflow perspective, is there a better way to render the original file (before rendering to flash). I.e Render the original to MOV(custom Animation?). I’m trying to reduce the amount of times I need to render files. The MP4 is working well for emailing/quality — so if I could stay with that, that would be good, but am open to your thoughts if it will improve quality or save time.
