Rendering
So I’m a young mom and my husband is usually the one to help with technology, but he doesnt know much about this and is recently deployed so I’m on my own!
To start, I know nothing about computers other than really how to turn it on and run a few things.
I have been using Vegas Movie Studio HD 11.0 to create daily video blogs that I upload to Youtube. By some miricle (thank you internet) I have been able to successfully do this!
I use the Flip Mino HD (https://bicycletouringpro.com/blog/flip-mino-hd-video-camera-review/)So I’m ok with making the videos, and uploading them… I am just having the HARDEST time rendering them! I know its supposed to be a specific type of like… Format? But I dont know which. I have tried a few and they do work and work FOR YouTube, but that take an hour and a half to render… Seeing as I create and upload these every night, and I have a 2 year old and I’m 26 weeks pregnant, staying up until 11:30 at night rendering these isn’t doing any good for me.
Any advice on this rendering thing would be great! Please keep in mind you have to explain it like you’re explaining it to a child, as I have very little idea of what I am doing!Thank you for your time! 😀 <3

Render times are influenced by how fast your computer is. Usually the latest/newest version of the software will take advantage of modern/more powerful computers, thus decreasing render times.
For example, my old laptop was a Core 2 Duo with 4gb RAM and ran Sony Vegas Pro 8. Rendering a 4 minute HD video for YouTube 1080 took about 2 hours. My new computer, which is very powerful, renders the same 4 minute clip in real time- 4 minutes, and i’m also using Vegas Pro 12.
So it basically comes down to hardware. However, you might be able to decrease the render settings, which will decrease render time but also decrease video quality.
You haven’t stated if you’re rendering standard definition video or high definition (and if it’s 1080 or 720).

I’m using a Toshiba Satilite L750 if that helps. My husband had it custom made.
I know the videos I take are in HD… And from what I read on the Flip Mino HD Camera site it: Produces incredible HD 720p (1280 x 720 resolution at 30 frames per second; 16:9 widescreen) video you’ll be able to enjoy on your HDTV.
To be honest, I get excited as long as my video renders in under an hour and they’re usually videos that are 5-8 minutes long. Is that considered good?
