Rendering
Hi,
I am attempting to render a scene which has two masks and some special effects by Continum and a QT layer. I am using a brand new (three days)MacBookPro with 2 gigs and After Effects 6.5. The problem is I keep getting the dreaded spinning ball when rendering. I tried to go to QT and got about half way through (500/900) when the spinning ball appeared again.
Any comments or help would be appreciated greatly.

Dave’s saying that AE 6.5 isn’t Universal Binary, and so isn’t supported on the MacBook Pro. However, neither is AE 7, but it sort of runs on Rosetta, so let’s try a little troubleshooting, for appearances at least. 🙂
First, disable the effects (using the F switch on the layers) and try to render.
If that doesn’t work, we need to know some details:
– which codec are you trying to render to?
– can you render anything else from AE?
– what do you mean “tried to go to QT”?
– how much RAM do you have?
– what is the codec and frame size of the QT layer?
– what is the frame size of the movie? -

Thanks for not being so cryptic. I found the problem which was that I had neglected to purge each time I made a new adjustment to the program. and I increased the cache size. So far it is working well. Be assured that if something goes wrong, I will be back asking questions.

hey Wally, i’m thinking in purchuase the new macbookpro, and i want to work with HDV in final cut and after effects, i’ve read your post, you say that you bought the new macbookpro, are you happy with is preformance??

Sorry I am extremely late in repsonding to your post. Yes I am very happy with the MBP. The speed increase and the brightness of the screen are the first things I would mention. Of course there are still some programs which have not been converted over to the new processor and they work a little slower than those that have been. Nonetheless, I am quite satisfied. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate. $3,000 is a lot of money to plunk down.
