  • Render/export one frame for printing??? Is it possible?

    Hello all,

    Is there a way to export only one frame in the timeline?

    I ask this because I am working on a 2d comp in photoshop for print purposes (12x18in) and I want to have an explosion or dirt cloud shooting skyward. My original plan was to make a comp in AE the same size as my photoshop document, use Trapcode’s Particular to make some awesome particles flying everywhere, pick the frame I want and export it to use in the PS comp. The only options I see in the export menu is for movie clips.

    If that is possible, that brings me to my next question; Is there a way to include the alpha channel in this frame so its easy to key out in photoshop?

    -I thought the snapshot tool would have worked for this, but I cannot find a way to export it.
    Any help would be great from you gurus!

    You have two options:

    Composition -> Save Frame As -> File…
    (be sure to choose a rgb+alpha mode), and don’t forget to press render.

    or

    Composition -> Save Frame As -> Photoshop Layers

    then every layer in your comp will be a seperate layer in Photoshop.

    Wow, that was pretty easy, thanks for the help Filip 😀
    I cant believe I over looked that before haha. I stumbled across a longer route, which was to set the work area beginning and ending to a frame or two, export as an image sequence with millions of colors+ which gave an alpha…but your suggestion worked beautifully.
