Rendered a 1.26min file and its 9.91GB :(
Posted by Soumendra Jena on February 9, 2013 at 10:39 amHi..
I was working on a 1.26min clip AE project. Rendered it in 8 mins only and had selected output as quicktime. Now the file is 9.91GB 🙁
I was expecting it to be around 200MB or even less.
Its a 1920 x 1080 clip.
So, what am I doing wrong ?
Whats the best output ?

QuickTime is just a video container. What video codec you are using to render the final output?

It Depends on
Where you want the video to play? Is it for Web or you are going to burn it on a DVD?What quality do you want?
You can go for QuickTime PNG video Codec. The file size is moderate with no quality loss.
Click on the highlighted area next to Output Module to open Output Module Settings and then Choose PNG Video codec in Format.

February 9, 2013 at 1:43 pmIf you are studying it, I would strongly suggest you start here: Getting started with After Effects (CS4, CS5, CS5.5, & CS6)
Also, FAQ: Why is my output file huge, and why doesn’t it play back smoothly in a media player?
FAQ: What is the best format for rendering and exporting from After Effects?
And Vishesh is correct, without you telling us the intended destination of your file, it’s hard to really suggest an output.

February 10, 2013 at 6:21 amOk I need it 2 types then :
1. One for web to put it on our portfolio.
2. To deliver the client in a DVD or a BluRay disc. -

February 10, 2013 at 3:35 pmFor DVD or Blu-ray, use the DVD or Blu-ray encoding presets in Adobe Media Encoder. For web, use the encoding presets for YouTube or Vimeo in Adobe Media Encoder. It’s that simple.
