Render to what?
Posted by Carlo Ferraro on September 28, 2008 at 3:58 pmI got original hdv files edited. Now to keep the whole movie on files, what codec should I use: Apple ProRres 1440×1080 or 1920×1080

September 28, 2008 at 4:23 pmTake your pick. ProRes at 1920×1080 in theory won’t require scaling, but that’s really inconsequential in the scheme of things.

My question was because original material is in 1440×1080 but both files in ProRes are about the same size. I gess overall everything is 1080i

September 28, 2008 at 5:06 pmYes, and my point is that one is anamorphic and the other is nearly identical, just full raster. No big deal.
Converting from the long GOP format of HDV to the iFrame video of ProRes is much more important that whether you wind-up with an anamorphic file or not.
