I have been shooting a series of quick tutorial videos that are for the web. I am shooting HDV and digitizing via firewire to ProRes. I am then editing the footage on a ProRes 422 Sequence.

Here is my question (and I feel silly asking) – But what should my Video Processing Settings be in my Sequence Settings? It defaults to “Render 10-bit material in high-precision YUV” – but somewhere I heard that if the video will be delivered on the web, the setting should be “Always Render in RGB.”

This is far from my specialty, so I would like some feedback/suggestions from those with knowledge on the subject. Thanks!!

[Brian Pitt] “- but somewhere I heard that if the video will be delivered on the web, the setting should be “Always Render in RGB.””
That’s one of the most dangerous suggestions I’ve ever heard.
Video is converted to RGB to be displayed by your screen, but this have nothing with processing in RGB.
Video codecs (web video included) works in YUV and should be rendered in that color space.

Do you have a recommendation for which YUV setting to use when dealing with ProRes 422?

    Brian,
If your sequence is Prores and all the stuff inside is Prores, let the default “Render 10-bit material in high-precision YUV”.
If you are adding any other kind of stuff (graphics, video-no-10b,..), set “Render ALLL YUV in high precision”.
