    Hi.

I’m new to C4D and am still finding my way with the seemingly endless different render settings and options. I have a relatively simple scene with an animated camera with some shallow depth of field. I’m using R13 with the Physical renderer with the Adaptive sampler set to Medium and it has taken 13.5 hours to render 90 frames. I’m rendering as a PNG sequence as I need the alpha cahnnel, is this the best option or os there something more suited to animation (QT ProRes 4444?) Is there a better set up for this type of thing or do I just have to out up with the loooong render times?

Below are my machine specs, could any of these be part of the problem?:

    17″ MacBook Pro
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

    Stuart

Your computer isn’t very fast and raytraced DOF is slow, so it’s going to take a while. You might try rendering a depth pass and doing DOF in post.

    Thanks for that Adam.

Would you be able to suggest what I should be looking at in terms of spec for my computer if I wanted to upgrade? I’m really not as clued up as I should be in this regard.

    Thanks again.

    Stuart.
