Render settings
Hi,
I’m filming a music TV show using 4 canon 5d DSLR cameras then editing on sony vegas 10. I’ve received these tech specs and wondered what you guys thought would be my best render settings? Any info would be appreciated.QuickTime/AVI/MXF
1920×1080
25FPS
48 K Stereo Mix
Bitrate above 8000K -

It’s interesting that those specs say nothing about what codec to use. It just lists 3 containers that could have anything in them.
I would render to Sony MXF using the HD EX 1920×1080-50i template. Then press the Custom… button and change the Field Order to Progressive. That will give you very high quality 35Mbps video which is well above their 8Mbps limit.
If that file is too big, use Sony AVC with the Internet 1920×1080-25p template and when the render is finished, rename the .mp4 file to .mov and they will be none the wiser. That will give you a 16Mbps video that is also well above their 8Mbps minimum.

My only issue with MXF is I can’t check the quality as I can only playback through vegas. I’ve sent them some test footage with those settings.

Download Sony’s XDCAM Viewer. Then you can preview outside of Vegas Pro.

I use the Sony XDCAM viewer but, in a pinch, VLC will play MXF files.
