    Hello All,
We have been delivering spots to our local station via DVD format and MOV files on disc. We render our spots out of AE as QT Animation MOV on the high setting. This leaves these 30sec. spots at 700MB.

We now have a client who would like to get their files off our site.

We are thinking of setting up a password protected PHP page with the spot links on them. they can right click to download or we may create a button to activate download.

These 700MB files now are a concern because download times will be long. Are we rendering to high a quality for broadcast TV? Can we save on file size by adjusting our settings but retain the proper quality for TV?

Anyone have any tips on the whole FTP thing. Does the PHP password protect page sound like the way to go?

    Any insight is appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Brett

It’s a certainty that those files get compressed to something else before going to air. Talk to whoever does that compression at the receiving end. Editor, maybe? They might be fine with your giving them something compressed to the Avid codec or similar.

    Anybody else?
