Render Problems
I am trying to render in FCP HD and I am having problems. Whenever I go to any of the render options (rendall all, render selection etc) all I get is a box that pops up so fast that I cannot see it. The video then doesn’t render.
The pop-up box looks like the normal render box that is suppose to pop-up after you click render, however it is so quick that it is impossible to see.
I will click render about 15-20 times and get the pop-up and then I will get a message saying: FILE ERROR: THE SPECIFIED FILE IS OPEN AND IN USE BY THIS OR ANOTHER APPLICATION. The funny thing is that there are no other files open.
So after clicking on render another 15-20 times and getting the error again, FCP ‘sometimes’ renders……but only sometimes.
Does anyone have any clue????
P.S I am running FCP on a G5 so I don’t think there is a lack of processor power

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.
Then, look here:
Final Cut Pro (pulldown menu) > User Preferences > Render Control > all boxes checked and Frame Rate and Resolution at “100%”.After that, (if you still have a problem) do a Mac Search (click on the desktop and then hit apple-F) for “Render Files” and look inside for your current project’s name on a folder.
Open that particular folder and trash all the files in it.
That should force FCP to re-render EVERY render in that project.Next:

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
