  • render high quality HD in Vegas Pro 10 for use on mac then back to Vegas

A mac user is doing the opening credits of my feature. I need to render the first few minutes in high quality HD so that he can add credits. He is also doing some stuff with the footage so he can’t just send me the credits to insert.

I am completely new to HD. I use Vegas pro 10. what should I render the files as so that he can work with them, keep the quality high and I can re insert them into my film when he’s done?

I tried making a high quality mov but when I put it back into my timeline, it was choppy. I experimented with 24 fps(it was shot in 24) 1920×1080 lower field first, 24 bpps color and quality high.

Any help is appreciated. also, is there some way he should render the files on his mac before he returns them to me?

Render out your footages in the Quicktime format using the
    animation codec.

If it is HD and 24 frames it should be progressive.Lower field first would mean that it is interlaced. There is no such animal that I know of at 24fps in HD. Use uncompressed .avi or .mov – progressive at 24.

I shall try this, thank you. this is my first time dealing with HD so I’m just clicking things here and there and seeing what happens. Lower field first was already checked.

    Also remember that the “p” implies progressive/non-interlaced (1080p, 720p, 480p, etc).

I changed the field to none. Now when I render, my footage has a couple inches of black border all around it.
    my settings were:
    mov
    custom settings
    1920 x 1080
    24fps
    None (field order)
    pixel ratio 1.000
    compression depth 24bpp color
    quality, high
    under project, best quality.

I am new to HD. I now hate HD. I need to render this footage in the highest quality to send to my friend who will be putting opening credits into it. Could someone please walk me through the settings I should use. He uses a mac if that makes a difference in settings.
    thanks!
