I made a video explaining everything, so instead of me writing everything about my problem, you can just go there watch it. Tell me what you think, and hopefully you might have a solution for me. Also, one thing, I’ve tried many many things, but I’m willing to try about anything because I’m so frustrated.

    Thanks!!

The one thing you fail to mention is the length of your video. I’m no expert, but if your video is about 15 minutes long, then that seems right. Right now I’m rendering out a 4 minute and 11 second Music Video, and it’s going to take just over four hours, at 1080×720 30i. So it would seem it’s about an hour per minute of video, and that’s without effects.

They all are around the 10 minute range. A video that I rendered last night that is 10:57 took around 7 hours to render. That same video with all those effects before if I remember correctly, would have taken around 1, 2, or 3 hours.

    Austin,

Does the render process start fast (watch the speed of the frame numbers) and then slow to a crawl?

With as many effects that you’re adding, and only 2Gb of RAM, I am not surprised to see the encodes (Render As) take so long. The best advice I would give you is to upgrade to Windows 7 ASAP and a minimum of 4GB of RAM. Vista is the second worst O/S that Microsoft ever released. Two Gb will barely get you started, so I am suspecting that you are hammering your pagefile pretty hard.

Your video was of no use because when you say “click here, zero here, someone said put 2 here…” I have no clue what you are doing.

You also didn’t say what your hard disk configuration is, but if you only have one hard-disk installed, I am surprised that your encodes even finish.

Sometimes, but not all the time. If I have a still picture then of course it does. I just did a quick short render it stayed pretty consistent, so only with still pictures does it go fast then slow down.

I’m sorry, but I don’t find RAM my problem. I have 4 GB and I understand that Vista will use a good chunk of that, but even with Vegas up and rendering I will look at task manager and it gives me about 2 1/2 GB being used. On the other hand the CPU during render is always going 100%. I took off color correction and all other effect except cookie cutter, because that is needed and it still took 7 hours to render. What I don’t think you understand is it was fine before with minor color correction and cookie cutter and it could render that in about 2 hours every time with a 10 minute clip. Now, its taking around 7 hours each time.
