Twenty minute project stops rendering after 4 minutes.
    Low memory message appears.
    Says shut down other applications.
    Don’t have any others running.
Any suggestions on how to get this rendered?
Proejct is vide0 from one of those mini-disc camcorders, with stills and a music track.
    Thankful for any suggestions.

Try the following. Make sure under options/preferences/video that your ‘Dynamic RAM preview’ is set to 16MB, Ed’s suggestion and it really seems to work. This will avoid excessive page file size during renders plus it stops the runaway consumption of ram which seems to take place when large still images are involved with the render. Especially if those stills have very large pixel dimensions, in fact I find it best for anything over 720 x 480 or 720 x 576 if you are in PAL.

If that fails try rendering your timeline in segments and then stiching these segments together. You may find this works or you may find one segment render hangs Vegas. In which case you may have a corrupt graphic or other element in that segment. If that’s the case then it’s a process of elimination from there on in I’m afraid.

If using Vegas 6, also make sure you’re on the current version – 6.0c.

    Hey Chris,

Maximum dynamic ram is 550 MB under options/preferences/video.
    You suggest 16 MB?
Must be looking in the wrong spot

Yes, try dropping that number. After you’re done rendering, you can raise it back up.

“System low on memory. You may have to reduce memory usage by closing other applications”
But don’t have any other apps open.

    Really getting wierd now.
Photo after the one where render stopped does not even show on preview when cursor passes over it.
As though it is not there!

Are any of these photos on an external drive? It could be that a temporary loss of connection, firewire or USB2, is causing them to be unavailable.
