    Yes. Make your sequence settings match exactly the settings of your media. Assuming you’re working with a file format that is editable in FCP.

    Match sequence setting to clip settings.

    Use an easy set up that matches your source footage, and you should be all good.

    Final Cut Pro > Easy Set Up…

    In FCP 6 the default behavior as you make your first edit into the sequence is to ask if you would like to change the sequence settings to match the clip settings. Say yes unless you have a good reason not to.

    If you need to trouble shoot further:

    Select a clip and hit Command – 9

    Make note of the settings.

    Select your sequence and hit Command – 0

    Make these settings match the clip settings.
