Renaming clips to original file names for EDL export
So, we’ve edited our entire feature in Premiere, and it’s time to export EDL’s so we can take them to color.
Unfortunately, Premiere uses the clip names from clips renamed in Premiere when generating the EDL. This is asinine considering the whole point of an EDL is to make something that’s UNIVERSAL (not utlizing things specific to Premiere). Why wouldn’t the EDL use the ORIGINAL FILE PATH and NAME for each clip in the project EDL?!
ANYWAY… does anyone know if there’s a way to restore the original name/file path for each clip in a Premiere Project’s bin? The information is all stored in the Premiere Project file at the code level (the new, renamed clip name is associated with the original clip’s file path and name), but I don’t want to have to manually cull through the Premiere Project file code and manually rename hundreds of clips back to their original names.
One would THINK that there would be a simple method to rename all clips to their original names (the associated file path and name stored in the Premiere Project file), or at least output an EDL utilizing each clips ORIGINAL (actual) name and path (instead of the Premiere renamed clip name), but for the life of me I haven’t been able to find this function (and Adobe is NO help at all).
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
