    Hello,

I have some footage of a stage show, and in the BG is a sign of one of the sponsors of the show, unfortunately because this show may be aired on that sponsors competitor’s tv station I need to remove that sign….

I have some ideas on how to go about this, such as creating a black layer over the sign and then motion tracking it to keep it over the sign when the camera moves, or maybe removing the orange color of the sign to make unrecognizable…

I haven’t got the footage yet, so I am unable to try these techniques yet… but I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to go about somethign like this?

    Thanks bigtime in advance!

Visit all of the AE tutorial sites and search for Motion Tracking exercises. It’s a far better tool in 6.5 and 7 than in earlier versions but it’s still ultra tedious and funky. You will render every frame where this sign of yours appears so you must be prepared for long processing times and storage capacity.

The elegance with which this gets done is proportional to the quality of the editing job, divided by the quality of the performance, all inversely squared by the amount of money you’re going to get paid.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
